The Farm
Hill House Farm nestles in the heart of the Norfolk countryside - a farm which dates back to the 1600s - a farm which has demonstrated careful husbandry of the countryside by each generation, generation after generation.
Hill House proudly maintains this important tradition, knowing that Mother Nature holds and will always hold the key to flavour, nourishment and just a little delicious temptation.
The farm supports and actively adheres to the standards of Conservation Grade Farming for Wildlife is signed up to and is an enthusiastic promoter of DEFRA's Entry Level Stewardship scheme for environmental farming and indeed applies this to the whole farm.
However, Hill House Farm voluntarily goes beyond this by implementing programmes and schemes of its own. One such programme is the provision of owl boxes on the farm, helping to protect and develop the local owl population.
Others include keeping a brood of Hamburgh chickens, a comparatively rare breed. A small bird and therefore of little interest to industrial producers, this hardy active chicken is in fact capable of flight. One famous devotee of the Hamburgh was author L.Frank Baum, who wrote The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
